More than 500 new environmental declarations available
As of 12 October, more than 500 new generic environmental declarations (category 3) are registered in the Dutch Environmental Database. They apply to the B&U sector. This expansion fills a large part of the gaps in the database, from foundations and roofs to heat generation and charging point infrastructure. The impact analysis shows no major deviations in calculations, and where differences occur, alternative declarations are available.
What’s new?
- Foundation and ground: ground works, foundation structures, pile foundations
- Structure and roofs: roofs, main load-bearing structures
- Openings: exterior wall openings, roof openings
- Insulation materials
- Mechanical installations: cooling generation, heat generation, emission systems, air handling
- Electrical installations: central electrical installations, lighting fixtures
Impact on calculations
Do you calculate the MPG or ECI?
The new declarations are available in your calculation tool. Some of the new declarations replace existing environmental declarations. Results of earlier calculations may therefore shift, so for ongoing projects it may be worthwhile to update the calculation if you previously worked with replacement or missing data.
Are you a manufacturer?
A generic declaration is a starting point. Do you want the actual performance of your product to be visible in calculations? Then you can have a brand-specific environmental declaration prepared and reviewed. Read how this works.
How did this come about?
Over the past year, Stichting NMD has commissioned projects with partners covering almost all NL-SfB elements. The selection took into account price, expertise, capacity and broad representation of partners. Before publication, an impact analysis was carried out, including calculations on reference buildings. This analysis shows no major deviations in calculations, and where differences occur, alternative declarations are available.
What’s still to come?
Around 300 environmental declarations are expected to follow at the end of 2026. These include exterior and interior walls, floors, stairs and ramps, balustrades, wall, floor and ceiling finishes, and installations for drainage, water and gases. A separate process is under way for the GWW sector.
