Frequently asked questions about the NMD Academy
NMD Academy is the official learning environment of Stichting NMD and consists of three components:
- Course material – developed by experts from Stichting NMD and partners, modular in structure and divided into three themes: environmental performance, databases and environmental data.
- External courses and training programmes – an overview of relevant courses from other providers.
NMD Academy has been developed for various target groups who work with environmental data or want to learn more about it, such as:
- Students and lecturers
- LCA advisors and consultants
- Manufacturers and data owners
- Instrument holders and users of calculation tools
- Policy makers and government bodies
No, at present NMD Academy does not provide workshops or in-person training sessions itself. We only offer course material. However, we do refer to external training programmes and courses. The course material can be worked through independently and is also suitable for use in a course or workshop setting.

Whereas the course material was previously broadly oriented, NMD Academy is now fully focused on knowledge from the source: everything ties back to the NMD itself. NMD Academy previously focused solely on education. Since other groups are also increasingly in need of clear explanations and course material, NMD Academy has now been set up for a wider audience.
The renewal consists of:
- Expansion of the target groups (not only education, but also practice and policy).
- More course material, with a clear structure from introduction to in-depth content.
The introductory presentations are now available and form a solid basis for anyone interested in the Dutch Environmental Database. In addition to the current introductory presentations, new material will be added step by step, covering general and in-depth topics in the form of presentations.
The course material is divided into three main themes:
- Environmental Performance
- Databases
- Environmental Data
Within each theme, you will find an introduction. In-depth modules will also be added step by step.
The course material forms the heart of NMD Academy. It has been developed by experts from Stichting NMD together with relevant partners, so that knowledge is shared directly from the source. The modules are structured in a modular and accessible way, allowing everyone to start at the level that suits their role. The three main modules are environmental performance, databases and environmental data. Each module starts with an introductory presentation and will later be expanded with in-depth topics.
In addition to its own course material, NMD Academy also refers to existing courses and training programmes from other providers. These courses focus, among other things, on sustainable construction, LCA and environmental performance. This gives you an overview of external learning opportunities that align with the content of NMD Academy.
