Current developments in category 3 data

Current status

Over the past years, Stichting NMD has carried out large-scale quality improvements for civil engineering (GWW) data, updating and strengthening many background reports and environmental declarations. A large-scale quality improvement is now also under way for residential and non-residential buildings (B&U), with new background reports and environmental declarations being prepared for each element. Since 2025, new data has been published for a large share of these elements.

However, the work is not yet complete. Some GWW reports are now several years old and require revision, and projects for a number of B&U elements are still ongoing. In 2026 and early 2027, Stichting NMD will take further steps to improve the quality, coverage and currency of category 3 data.

Excel list of new and deactivated environmental declarations

Stichting NMD periodically publishes an overview of new and deactivated environmental declarations within category 3 data. Below you can download the latest overview for both residential and non-residential buildings (B&U) and civil engineering (GWW). The file is available in Dutch only.

Excluded products

Stichting NMD continuously works to improve category 3 data, including assessing whether new products should be added to the Dutch Environmental Database (NMD).

In some cases, however, a deliberate decision is made not to prepare an environmental declaration for a specific product. This may be due to several reasons, such as:

• The product is used on a very small scale.
• There is insufficient reliable environmental data available.
• The product falls outside the scope of the current Assessment Method for Environmental Performance of Construction Works.

In recent background reports, Stichting NMD includes an overview of these excluded products, along with the reasoning. Once this list is available, it will be published on this page.

Schedule and status

The tables below show the current status and schedule of updates. For B&U, publication may be postponed if a data change has a major impact on meeting the environmental performance requirement (MPG). In such cases, Stichting NMD decides, in consultation with the Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning (VRO), when the relevant data will be published. Element names in the tables follow the Dutch NL-SfB classification.

The tables below are shown in Dutch. Column headings: Onderdeel/elementen (element/component), Status, Publicatiedatum (publication date). Status: Gepubliceerd/Afgerond (published), Lopend (ongoing), Impactanalyse (impact analysis). Element names follow the Dutch NL-SfB classification.
