Structural Collective joins Stichting NMD as a new calculation tool owner

Wednesday 13 May 2026

Stichting Nationale Milieudatabase welcomes Structural Collective as a new tool owner within the NMD system. On Tuesday 12 May, the licence agreement was officially signed during a celebratory signing event at Stichting NMD. With the addition of Structural Collective, the network of tool owners continues to expand, bringing the total number of tool owners within the system to ten.

Calculation tool owners are organisations that offer licensed calculation tools enabling designers and construction professionals to calculate the environmental performance of buildings and construction works. Stichting NMD validates these calculation tools to ensure the correct and uniform implementation of the Assessment Method and the proper use of environmental data from the Dutch Environmental Database. This ensures that environmental performance calculations are reliable and comparable.

Collaboration as the foundation for a climate-neutral construction sector

Jan-Willem Groot, who signed the agreement on behalf of Stichting NMD, emphasised in a short speech the importance of the collaborative relationship between Stichting NMD and the tool owners. The insight generated through environmental performance calculations makes the environmental impact of the built environment measurable and thereby directly contributes to the ambition of achieving a climate-neutral construction sector.

Ivan Thung, on behalf of Structural Collective:

“This step marks an important milestone for us in making the construction sector more sustainable. Through our collaboration with the NMD, we can support our clients and partners in making better data-driven decisions throughout every phase of the construction process. At the same time, it gives us the opportunity to contribute our expertise to improving the system as a whole — from product and building level through to policy.”

The addition of Structural Collective demonstrates that the system continues to evolve and that the market demand for reliable environmental data and high-quality calculation tools is continuing to grow. Stichting NMD looks forward to the collaboration and to further developing this partnership in the years ahead.
