Validation of the 'adjusted and weighted MPG requirements' completed
The optional validation round for the implementation of the adjusted and weighted MPG calculation has been successfully completed. The first calculation tools have been validated and can now offer these new calculation methods, which became part of the revised regulations on 1 July 2026.
Uniform application of the new regulations
With the introduction of the revised Assessment Method for Environmental Performance of Buildings (AMPB 2.0) and the updated MPG requirements, new calculation rules for the environmental performance of buildings came into effect on 1 July 2026.
For buildings with multiple occupancy functions, a weighted MPG requirement now applies, whereby the contribution of each occupancy function is weighted according to its gross floor area. In addition, adjusted MPG requirements apply under certain conditions to small dwellings and non-compact office buildings. The corresponding formulas are laid down in the Buildings Decree for the Living Environment (Bbl) and the Environment and Planning Regulation.
To ensure the uniform and consistent application of these new calculation rules, Stichting NMD organised an optional validation round for calculation tools. During this validation, it was verified whether the formulas for the weighted and adjusted MPG requirements had been implemented correctly and completely in the software.
Validated calculation tools
The first calculation tools have successfully completed the validation process. On the Calculation Tools page, each tool indicates whether it has been validated for the calculation rules relating to the weighted and adjusted MPG requirements.
The implementation of these calculation rules is optional. Calculation tool owners are not required to offer this functionality. As a result, a calculation tool may be validated for environmental performance calculations but not for the calculation of the weighted and adjusted MPG requirements.
In addition, several calculation tool owners joined the validation round at a later stage. Their validation process is currently still ongoing. The list of validated calculation tools will therefore continue to expand over the coming period and will be kept up to date on the Stichting NMD website.
