Submitting processes to the process database
The process database is continuously expanded and updated with new and improved process data. Submitting processes contributes to the quality and completeness of the environmental data in the Dutch Environmental Database.
On this page, you can find out when submitting processes is relevant, how it works, and which guidelines apply.
The process database contains generic processes used in Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs). New and updated processes can be submitted in accordance with established guidelines.
Following review and approval, these processes are included in the Dutch Environmental Database and made available for use in environmental performance calculations.
Submission and validity of reference processes
In some cases, it is desirable to add product-specific process data for the development of environmental declarations in the NMD. This can be useful, for example, when specific process data, such as industry averages, provide a more accurate representation of environmental performance in practice.
Processes that meet the required criteria can be submitted to Stichting NMD via the designatedcontact form. Please note that both Stichting NMD and the administrator of the process database may reject and/or return newly submitted processes if they do not meet the established requirements.
Reference processes must be updated periodically, with a validity period of five years, similar to environmental declarations. Data owners can update their data by submitting a new template.
Requirements and documentation
Both content-related and formal requirements apply to the submission of processes. These are set out in the available documentation and templates.
It is important that the submitted data is complete and accurate to enable proper assessment and inclusion in the process database.
The following documents are available for download for submitting processes:
- Template for submitting Category 1, 2 and 3 reference processes as an environmental profile
- Template for submitting Category 3 reference processes, including references
- Protocol for submitting processes to the NMD process database
These documents contain the guidelines and formats required for correct submission.
