Filling the Gaps, a lasting boost for sustainable construction

Did you know that the Filling the Gaps compensation scheme has been around for several years and is still open for applications? And that this scheme will continue to exist in the coming years—constantly adapted to current needs, because the 'gaps' are constantly shifting to other product groups?

Tuesday 22 April 2025

Since 2022, the NMD Foundation has been working to fill in the 'gaps' in the National Environmental Database (NMD). This compensation scheme is intended to increase the number of category 1 and 2 environmental declarations, particularly in underrepresented or strategically important areas.

The scheme has been set up with a long-term vision: as long as budget is available, it will be allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis.

Applying for the compensation scheme

Applications for the fourth round of the Filling the Gaps compensation scheme will be open from January 1, 2025. The scheme is intended for manufacturers, producers, suppliers, and subcontractors of construction products and industry organizations that have an LCA drawn up and publish the LCA data in the form of an environmental declaration in the NMD.

Belangrijke deadlines

Publication of environmental declarations: no later than November 1, 2025.

Submission of documentation: no later than December 1, 2025.
