From July 1, 2024, Stichting NMD is introducing new terms and recognition procedures to further ensure the quality and reliability of Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) in the construction industry.
- the term "Recognised LCA expert" will be replaced by " Recognised LCA reviewer"
- from July 1, 2024, LCA practitioners can also be recognized by Stichting NMD.

Recognized LCA reviewer
A recognized LCA reviewer is an independent qualified third party specializing in LCA creating and reviewing LCAs. The requirements to become a recognized LCA reviewer are therefore more stringent than the requirements for a recognized LCA practitioner.

Recognized LCA practitioner
A recognized LCA practitioner has the necessary knowledge and experience to independently write detailed and reliable LCAs of materials and products used in the construction industry. This recognition can be seen as a first step towards qualification as an LCA reviewer.

Unrecognized LCA practitioner
In addition to recognized LCA practitioners, non-recognized LCA practitioners can also submit data. This is especially for people who, for example, only make LCAs from the producer of the building materials. You can apply for a login for this.
