ECO Conference 2026
ECO Conference 2026

ECO Conference 2026

The conference will kick-off on the 17th of november with a network dinner. On Wednesday 18 November 2026, Jan-Willem Groot will be one of the speakers at the ECO Conference in Brussels.

What does the event involve?

The European construction sector is entering a new phase. Environmental information on construction products must become more reliable, more scalable and digitally usable. This is necessary to comply with regulations, but also to properly determine the environmental performance of buildings. What exactly is changing? Which data are needed? And how do we make sure this transition works in practice?

During the ECO Conference 2026, policymakers, manufacturers, construction professionals, EPD programme operators, LCA experts and providers of digital solutions will discuss these questions together.

Programme

Morning: What is changing?
The plenary main forum focuses on two European developments. The first is the implementation of the revised Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and what it means for EPDs. Representatives of the European Commission (DG GROW), CEN/TC 350, Construction Products Europe and EPD International will speak on this. The second is the introduction of the EPBD in the Member States. This concerns the question of which product data are needed to calculate the greenhouse gas emissions (GWP) of buildings over their entire life cycle. The speaker is Bunthan Iea of the European Commission (DG ENER).

Afternoon: What do we do with it?
In six expert sessions, divided over three tracks, participants get to work on practical questions:

  • Industry & compliance: how do manufacturers prepare for the CPR and the digital product passport (DPP), and how do you avoid duplicate work for EPDs and other declarations?
  • Methods & trust: how do we achieve more consistency in calculation rules (such as EN 15804) and how can verification take place on a larger scale without compromising reliability?
  • Data & use: what is needed for the digital exchange of product data, and which data do you really need for a building level LCA?
  • In the plenary closing session, the most important insights and priorities towards 2027 are brought together. Afterwards, there is an opportunity for informal discussion.

Who is it for?
Manufacturers and trade associations, EPD programme operators, LCA experts and verifiers, software suppliers and data platforms, and architects, engineers and other professionals who work with building LCA.
