Pre-assessment for project-specific LCAs

The pre-assessment is an initial check of project-specific LCAs (primarily for the civil engineering and infrastructure sector) and ensures quality assurance at an early stage in the process. The assessment is carried out by an LCA verifier recognised by Stichting NMD and is based on the principles of the Assessment Method.

By using the pre-assessment, contracting authorities and contractors can gain greater confidence in submitted LCAs during the procurement and design phases, without incurring high costs at this stage. The pre-assessment verifies whether the LCA has been prepared competently and complies with the Assessment Method, without conducting a full review.

The pre-assessment does not replace the formal verification of environmental data in accordance with the Verification Protocol, which must be carried out prior to project completion, and does not guarantee that LCA results will not deviate.
