NMD-entry platform

This page was updated on April 7 2025
Environmental declarations in the NMD are created and published via our input platform. This platform is continuously updated with new features. This page provides an overview of newly implemented features and which new features are planned.
Entering category 1 and 2
Category 1 and 2 environmental declarations include verified proprietary environmental data from manufacturers, suppliers and industries. This data has been verified by an independent, qualified third party according to the NMD Verification Protocol. Both recognized and unrecognized LCA practitioners can enter data; they can request an account for this.

Entering category 3 and 3A
Category 3 and 3A environmental declarations contain non-proprietary data from the Dutch Environmental Database Foundation. This data has not been reviewed according to the Review Protocol. Category 3 and 3A data is established by the NMD Foundation. The new entry platform for entering category 3 data will be released soon.
New features
Update April 7 2025
Simpeler updates to environmental declarations
To update an environmental declaration, you can now start a 'change request.' This allows you to create the new version from a completed copy of the published declaration, rather than from a blank one. You can also delete a change request if needed.

Copy environmental declarations
You can now copy environmental declarations that are still in ‘draft’ status. This is useful if you want to create multiple declarations that are largely similar—for example, where only the element within the classification differs. All data will be duplicated, so you only need to adjust what’s different. You can find the copy function by clicking the three dots in the top right corner of a declaration under ‘Requests’.

New input fields
When creating new environmental declarations, you’ll find several new fields—for example, one for the applicability of unforeseen reuse (H-factor) when using data, and another for the publication date of the LCA report. This way, we continuously enrich the data in the NMD.
Validation Score Matrix
When uploading the Score Matrix document for the environmental profile as calculated in the LCA, the document is automatically validated for the presence of a dataset for A1 and A2, as well as for the completion of parameters. This serves as an extra check to ensure better data quality.
New Scaling Formulas
The new scaling formulas have been added. (see wijzigingsblad amendement 5 bij Bepalingsmethode 1.1 (Dutch only)).
Filtering and exporting environmental declarations
You can filter your environmental declarations under ‘Requests’ by status (Draft, In review, Feedback given, Change request) and export the data to Excel.

See where the LCA reviewer provided feedback
As an LCA author, you can now immediately see which parts of your submitted environmental declaration received feedback from the LCA reviewer. This is indicated with a yellow dot in the menu.

Update 17 december 2024
a) Nieuw dashboard
b) New PPS Sheet
There is a new PPS sheet that must be used for uploading the environmental profile of the declaration. It can be downloaded from the 'Profile Information' page under 'Environmental Profiles' within the submission platform.
c) Deleting Draft Declarations
It is now possible to delete draft declarations and replacement requests. This can be done by opening the declaration, clicking the three dots in the menu at the top right next to the yellow 'Save' button, and selecting the 'Delete' option—see the image below.
d) ‘Brand’ of Category 1 and 2 Declarations in Viewer
The brand of the Category 1 and 2 product cards has been added in the viewer.
Roadmap
The entry platform will continue to be further developed based on changes in the Determination Method and in response to user feedback. Below are some of the new features that will be integrated:
- It will become possible to select multiple elements per declaration. As a result, declarations will no longer need to be entered multiple times if they fall under more than one element.
Do you have any suggestions to make the platform even more user-friendly?

Frequently asked questions Entry platform
The entry platform is used by LCA practitioners and recognised LCA reviewers to input and publish environmental declarations in the National Environmental Database (NMD). The NMD contains environmental declarations of construction products, building installations and processes, which are used to unambiguously calculate the material-specific environmental performance of construction works in the Dutch context.
The new entry platform replaces the old entry module from 2 September 2024. The first version of this platform will only support the entry of data in categories 1 and 2. The functionalities for entering category 3 data will be added to the same platform later in 2024.
The platform is used by LCA practitioners who enter environmental statements into the NMD. In addition, recognised LCA reviewers use the platform to check and publish the data entered.
The platform can only be accessed if you have login details, which are issued and managed by Stichting NMD.
By completing this form, you can register as an LCA practitioner. You will then receive login details to the entry platform from Stichting NMD.
If you already have login details for the old entry module, you will have received an e-mail on 2 September 2024 with a link to the new entry platform. Use the 'forgot password' option to create a new password, after which you can access the new platform.
