NMD-entry platform
The entry platform of the Dutch Environmental Database (NMD) is an essential tool for entering, reviewing and managing environmental data used in the construction industry. In providing this, the NMD offers a platform for different categories of products, allowing producers and manufacturers to enter and update their environmental data (or have it entered).
Entering category 1 and 2
Category 1 and 2 environmental declarations include verified proprietary environmental data from manufacturers, suppliers and industries. This data has been verified by an independent, qualified third party according to the NMD Verification Protocol. Both recognized and unrecognized LCA practitioners can enter data; they can request an account for this.

Entering category 3 and 3A
Category 3 and 3A environmental declarations contain non-proprietary data from the Dutch Environmental Database Foundation. This data has not been reviewed according to the Review Protocol. Category 3 and 3A data is established by the NMD Foundation. The new entry platform for entering category 3 data will be released soon.
Roadmap
Later in 2024 and 2025, the new entry platform will be further developed. Some of these new features to be released are explained below:
- Updating a declaration will be made easier. In the new feature, a declaration will be updated from a completed copy of the published environmental declaration, rather than from a blank copy.
- The new scaling formulas will be added from 1-1-2025 (see amendment sheet amendment 5 to Assessment Method 1.1)
- It will be possible to choose multiple elements per declaration. This eliminates the need to enter declarations twice if they fall under multiple elements.
- A new PPP sheet will be introduced.
- The ability to delete draft declarations from the 'environmental declaration applications' list will be added.
- New entry fields will be added, such as the applicability of unforeseen reuse (H-factor) when using the data.
