The realisation that an educated lifestyle is sometimes at odds with sustainability and the environment came over the years. A slow realisation that the choices you make also impact the natural environment. Such people used to strike me as rather floaty and "not-quite-from-this-world". After all, I am a tech person, much more broadly oriented than my engineering background suggests. However, it is increasingly close to my heart that our natural environment is under such pressure from human intervention. I want to stand up to that, supported by my expert and motivated colleagues.

Within the work of the NMD Foundation, my focus is on international developments and regulations, a very complex playing field with a wide variety of objectives and interests. But therefore definitely of this world. I love walking in nature, enjoying everything that grows, blossoms and hops around. I wish the same for my (and their) children. So I like to use my technical background and experience in the construction sector to make that possible and maintain it.
