Category 1 and 2 data must be compiled by a person with the appropriate work experience and knowledge. If you believe you are sufficiently qualified to prepare LCAs, you can submit an application via the form below to be recognised by Stichting NMD.

 

 

Register as recognised LCA practitioner

A recognised LCA practitioner has the necessary knowledge and experience to independently prepare detailed and reliable LCAs of materials and products used in the construction sector. This recognition can be regarded as a first step towards qualification as an LCA reviewer.

An LCA practitioner can be recognised if they have the following work experience and knowledge:

  • The LCA practitioner has sufficient work experience to independently and responsibly prepare a life cycle assessment (LCA) of materials and raw materials used in the Building & Utility and/or Civil Engineering sector
  • The LCA practitioner has knowledge of construction products
  • The LCA practitioner has knowledge of the Assessment Method, EN15804 and the underlying standards ISO14040/44 and ISO14025
  • The LCA practitioner knows how to apply relevant PCRs

To become a recognised LCA practitioner, you must at least meet the following requirements:

  • The LCA practitioner has prepared and completed at least three verified LCA reports in the past two years in accordance with the NMD Verification Protocol. These three LCA reports must meet the following conditions:
    • The reports cover at least two different material groups;
    • The LCA practitioner is the lead author of at least two reports and responsible for carrying out the LCA calculation;
    • The reports have been reviewed by at least two different, independently recognised LCA reviewers (not working for the same organisation);
  • The LCA practitioner is not involved in criminal cases relating to bribery, money laundering or fraud.

The undersigned submits three LCA reports that have been prepared in accordance with the NMD Verification Protocol and/or the MRPI Verification Protocol, have been positively reviewed, with demonstrable authorship, and completed no more than five years ago. These reports will be submitted for review to (selected members of) the Technical Committee (TIC) of the Dutch Environmental Database Foundation.

The undersigned declares, by submitting the requested documents, to have taken note of the document “Conditions for recognition of LCA experts for reviewing category 1 and 2 data for inclusion in the Dutch Environmental Database – July 2024” and to agree with the conditions set out therein.

The undersigned also declares, in his or her opinion, to meet the requirements set out in the aforementioned document, to carry out the review in accordance with the most recent rules and regulations (verification protocol) of the Assessment Method, and to agree with the arbitration procedures of Stichting NMD.
