You don't have to be an environmentalist to see that there are limits to the explosive growth in demand for raw materials that we've seen over the past century. A further increasing demand for raw materials increases the environmental, climate and other sustainability problems that we already have to deal with. With the NMD we provide insight into the environmental effects of the construction products used in infrastructural constructions, homes and offices. This makes us an important link between policy and practice. For myself, I see it as the most important task that, based on widely supported research, the NMD is increasingly filled with products with a low environmental impact, so that the calculation tools can calculate reliable MKIs and MPGs. The interests are great individually and socially.
