Survey digiDeal "Designing with Environmental Data" launched

The digiDeal “Designing with Environmental Data” focuses on how environmental data can be better applied in the early design phase of construction projects. Together with the sector, it explores which information is needed to better support design decisions.

Within digiGO, a survey has been launched as part of the digiDeal “Designing with Environmental Data”. The aim is to gain better insight into the information needs of design professionals working with environmental data from the Dutch Environmental Database. The results will help determine how environmental data can better support early design phases, where aggregated or generic data is often used.

Within the digiDeal “Designing with Environmental Data”, parties are collaborating on a key question: how can environmental data be made more usable in the early design phase of construction projects? Designers indicate that the current data in the Dutch Environmental Database does not always align well with this level of abstraction. At this stage, Category 3 data and general assumptions are often used, while the available data typically requires a higher level of detail.

The initiative therefore explores whether and how (anonymous) aggregated environmental data can be developed and made available, enabling better-informed design decisions at an earlier stage.

What is being investigated?

This survey aims to gather insight into:

  • the type of information design professionals need
  • the level of aggregation that is workable in early design phases
  • preferred approaches to data collection or aggregation
  • the conditions under which such data can be made available
  • how user needs can be structurally incorporated into the further development of the Dutch Environmental Database

What does this mean for you?

Do you work as an architect, consultant, developer or designer with environmental performance? Then your input is essential.

Your experience helps to:

  • improve the applicability of environmental data in design
  • better align with the practice of early-stage design decisions
  • guide future developments within the Dutch Environmental Database

What do you need to do?

Complete the survey and contribute to the further development of environmental data for design practice.

The survey takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Responses will be treated confidentially and processed only in aggregated form.
