Release of the new viewer

In our news update on the further development of the NMD Platform as a dynamic background report, we explained why we are developing the platform further and which steps we are taking.

As of today, the NMD Viewer has been updated. With this update, it is now possible to view the structure of many category 3(a) environmental declarations. For each environmental declaration, you can see which environmental profiles, material flows and profile flows it consists of. You can also find the applied quantities, basic processes and scaling formulas. The results can be found under the environmental impact scores and the centre-of-gravity graphs. Under supporting documents, you will find the background reports, which provide further explanation of specific assumptions and underlying principles.

For some environmental declarations, this information is not yet available. This is due to our transition to new software. However, we are working hard to update all category 3 data and make all related information available to the market.

Following this release, Stichting NMD will continue developing the viewer. For example, we will add the MKI values for each basic process used in a specific phase, and we will expand the centre-of-gravity analysis with a graph showing the relative contribution of basic processes to the total MKI. At a later stage, all explanations provided by the LCA practitioner when entering environmental declarations in the NMD Platform will also be accessible through the viewer.
