Compensation schemes for Filling the Gaps and Biobased extended in 2026
The Compensation scheme for Filling the Gaps in the Dutch Environmental Database will continue. Through this scheme, the Dutch Environmental Database supports the addition of missing and strategically important environmental data, ensuring that environmental performance calculations can continue to rely on a comprehensive and reliable database.
The Compensation scheme for Filling the Gaps in the Dutch Environmental Database has been extended. In 2026, it will still be possible to receive financial support for preparing and registering environmental declarations for construction products with insufficient data available in the database.
The scheme continues to focus on filling gaps in missing and strategically important environmental data, contributing to a more complete and reliable dataset for environmental performance calculations at the construction works level. The scheme targets, among others, installations, structures, fire-resistant products, sports fields, and innovative products.
Results to date
Since the launch of the Filling the Gaps programme in 2022, more than 700 environmental declarations have been added to the Dutch Environmental Database through this scheme. This effort has helped systematically identify and address missing data, encourage the market to provide Category 1 and 2 data, and improve the currency and usability of the Dutch Environmental Database.
Biobased bouwproducten
Biobased construction products Support for biobased construction products will also continue in 2026. Biobased products identified as "white spots" can be submitted through the Compensation scheme for Filling the Gaps. Funding for this is provided by the Biobased in the Dutch Environmental Database programme, which aligns with the National Approach to Biobased Construction.
This extension ensures that environmental data for biobased construction products can continue to be added and improved, in conjunction with ongoing research and projects focused on Category 3 data, basic processes, and end-of-life scenarios.
Next steps
Additional information on the compensation schemes and participation opportunities will be shared throughout 2026.
