New developments in the NMD Input Portal

Environmental declarations in the Dutch Environmental Database are prepared and published via the NMD Input Portal. This platform is continuously evolving. On this page, you will find an overview of new and upcoming features. If you use the platform, we welcome your feedback.

Planned features

The following features are scheduled for development:

Addition of new fields:
- Version of the Assessment Method for Environmental Performance of Construction Works
- PCR followed
- Mass of the considered functional unit
Development of an NMD Authorisation Register as part of DigiGo. This will allow data owners to specify which data they wish to share with third parties for which applications.

New	Explanation
Centre of gravity analysis	The platform displays graphs that provide insight into the composition of the product’s environmental cost indicator (MKI). These visuals show how the environmental impact is distributed across life cycle phases, environmental profiles, and impact categories.
Stichting NMD can now modify category 1 and 2 declarations	Stichting NMD can now independently adjust environmental declarations in categories 1 and 2, provided the modification does not affect the MKI (e.g., text corrections) and only with the data owner’s permission. Both consent and changes are logged. This allows errors to be corrected more quickly.
New functional unit	A new functional unit is now available for selection: kg/m³.
Performance improvements	The platform occasionally experienced sluggishness. This issue has been resolved.

New	Explanation
Ecoinvent version	A new field has been added: background data (Ecoinvent version)
Withdrawal of review request	If you submit an environmental declaration for review, you can now withdraw and further edit it until the reviewer opens the declaration.
Expanded valication score matrix	The uploaded LCA data (score matrix in Excel) is now checked for the presence of all life cycle modules. A warning is displayed if one or more modules are missing.
New functional units	New functional units are now available for selection: l (litre), km (kilometre), and kN/m².
View score matrix at product level	Environmental data (score matrix and parameters) are now displayed in the platform for the entire product, rather than only per environmental profile.
Selecting the data owner	The data owner to be entered is now selected from a list, instead of being typed manually. The list includes all data owners registered with Stichting NMD.

New	Explanation
Updating via change request	Environmental declarations can now be updated using a "change request". You start the new version from a pre-filled copy of the published declaration, rather than from an empty template.
Copying declarations	You can copy an environmental declaration in "draft" status. This is useful if you want to create multiple declarations that are largely similar. All data is copied, and you only need to adjust what differs.
LCA report publication date	New field in category 1 and 2 declarations: LCA report publication date.
Validation of score matrix	The LCA data to be uploaded (score matrix in Excel) is now checked for the presence of A1 and A2 datasets and parameters.
New scaling formulas	New scaling formulas have been added (seeamendment 5 change sheet for Assessment Method 1.1).
Filtering and exporting declarations	You can now filter your environmental declarations by status and export the list to Excel.
Reviewer feedback more visible	You can now immediately see which sections of your submitted environmental declaration the reviewer has provided feedback on, as these pages are marked in the side menu.
Updating processes in category 3 declarations	When updating a category 3 environmental declaration, all processes are automatically updated to the most recent version of the NMD Process Database.

New	Explanation
Dashboard expanded	The platform dashboard has been enhanced: you can now view the status of your declarations, distinguish between declarations created by you and your colleagues within your company account, and see which declarations have been worked on most recently.
New PPS sheet	A new Excel document for uploading the LCA score matrix is available. This can be downloaded directly from the page.
Deleting requests	You can now delete draft requests and change requests yourself.

1. What is the NMD’s entry platform?

The entry platform is used by LCA practitioners and recognised LCA reviewers to input and publish environmental declarations in the National Environmental Database (NMD). The NMD contains environmental declarations of construction products, building installations and processes, which are used to unambiguously calculate the material-specific environmental performance of construction works in the Dutch context.

2. Who is the entry platform for?

The entry platform is intended for LCA practitioners who enter environmental declarations into the Dutch Environmental Database. Additionally, recognised LCA reviewers use the platform to verify and publish the submitted data.

New	Explanation
Declarations with A2 data only	It is now permitted to submit environmental declarations containing only A2 data. A1 is no longer mandatory.
Reporting function in the platform	The input module for category 3 declarations has been expanded to such an extent that all information previously included in an LCA background report can now be entered directly into the platform. This makes the static LCA background report redundant.
