2025 was a successful year for the environmental performance assessment system and the Dutch Environmental Database. We look back on a year in which we, together with our partners, made progress on many fronts. Here are some highlights.
We closed 2025 with a total of 5,200 environmental declarations. This significant growth provides a strong foundation for further expansion. We made major strides in updating the Category 3 environmental declarations, working collaboratively with multiple recognised practitioners and reviewers. Additionally, the number of LCA practitioners and reviewers continued to grow.
The database underwent further development, including an improved entry platform and a renewed viewer. The increasing demand for environmental data confirms that the system is effective.
Our communication reached a wider audience through various channels, making our role in the system more widely recognised. The annual symposium on 4 November was also a great success.
The four DigiDeals under DigiGo were launched in 2025 and will deliver results in 2026 and 2027. These initiatives focus on key topics such as designing with environmental data, improving the availability and accessibility of data at ETIM decomposition level, unlocking cross-sections of environmental data (such as for WLC), and preparing for the arrival of European data. The DigiDeals under DigiGo are therefore important programmes to further advance the digitalisation of the system in a structured way.
The draft assessment method for WLC-GWP was finalised and will be further processed in 2026. We also made progress on the assessment methods for Renovation & Transformation and the Environmental Performance of Maintenance (MPO), which will be finalised in 2026.
In short, we have taken steps on many fronts that will be further developed this year. We look forward to another productive year with many exciting developments!
