Updates to category 3 environmental declarations
This page lists the current updates and corrections to category 3 environmental declarations within the Dutch Environmental Database. This enables tool owners and data users to stay informed about adjustments that may affect environmental performance calculations.
The updates may concern, for example:
- Corrections to environmental data or calculation settings (such as adjustment factors or reference dates)
- Amendments to background documentation
- Addition, replacement or removal of category 3 environmental declarations
- Transitions between datasets (such as from set A1 to set A2)
The most recent updates appear at the top.
Updated category 3 environmental declarations for heat pumps, boilers and buffer tanks
Stichting NMD is working on improving the quality of category 3 data for buildings and utilities. As part of this work, the environmental declarations for heat pumps have been updated and expanded. In addition, several new environmental declarations for boilers and buffer tanks have been prepared. The new environmental declarations are available as of today, 18 December 2025.

Communication PV panels
On 11 November 2025, new environmental declarations for PV panels and related components were published. These replace the current environmental declarations. Key changes include:
- The functional unit of the PV panels has been changed from pieces to m², which better reflects how these products are used. A conversion factor to pieces is included in the description.
- The scope of the environmental declarations has changed: previously the declarations covered the PV panel, mounting system and fasteners; these have now been separated into individual environmental declarations for PV panels, mounting systems, cabling and inverters, which can be combined into the desired end product.
- An environmental declaration for façade-mounted mounting systems has been added.
- Assumptions and starting points from the previous environmental declarations have been reviewed, improved and supplemented.
More information can be found in the corresponding background report for this product group..
To provide insight into the effect of these new environmental declarations, Stichting NMD has carried out an impact analysis. This analysis shows that the new data does not hinder compliance with the current environmental performance requirement.
We invite users to review the new data and reports and apply them in their environmental performance calculation.

Correction applied to heat pump declarations with set A2
A correction has been made in the Dutch Environmental Database to four environmental declarations (nmd_200006, nmd_200007, nmd_200009 and nmd_200010) in which the adjustment factor was incorrectly applied to set A2. This factor applies only to set A1 and is no longer used when transitioning to set A2.
The declarations have been updated; as of the reference date 24 September 2025, the non-adjusted MKI applies to set A2.
In preparation for the new environmental performance requirement, an impact analysis was carried out at the time in which heat pump declarations with set A2 without the adjustment factor were included. As this matches the current situation in the database, no additional impact analysis is required.
Tool owners may inform users within their calculation tool about this correction so they are aware that the MKI values in the current set A2 declarations may differ from earlier versions.
