digiDeal 2.
Availability and accessability of environmental data at ETIM decomposition level
Digideal 2. in brief
Creating the ability to find and use products or product compositions based on the ETIM building block or decomposition level within the Dutch Environmental Database.
Background
digiDeal 2, Availability and accessibility of environmental data, aims to link environmental data to the ETIM standard, including decomposition levels. This ensures that products can be found and exchanged in design and calculation systems using uniform classifications.
One of the challenges is that current NMD data is not always structured according to ETIM layers and decompositions. There are also differences in granularity and detail levels of products among suppliers. Additionally, the mapping between product data, NMD information, and the ETIM framework must be unambiguous and standardised. Finally, managing updates, inconsistencies, and versions of products is a significant task.
The approach focuses on developing mappings and translations between NMD product data and ETIM IDs. It also involves harmonising data input by producers so that ETIM classifications can be effectively used. APIs and services will enable the direct delivery of the correct environmental data based on an ETIM ID. Furthermore, validation rule sets and quality controls are being developed to maintain the reliability of classifications and mappings.
The expected results are that chain partners can easily retrieve environmental information through standard ETIM lookups. This reduces the risk of manual errors and conversions caused by differences in classifications. Additionally, it improves interoperability between different software packages in the sector.
Result:
To build a bridge between ETIM-classified products and the Dutch Environmental Database, resulting in a Proof of Concept that enables scalable environmental performance calculations based on an ETIM-defined source.
